Client Golf from Downtown Manhattan: Where to Host and What It Costs

Our anchor point is Downtown Manhattan, the Financial District around Wall Street. Times are approximate off peak drive times or standard transit times from there. Add 15 to 30 minutes at rush hour and on summer Saturdays. Client golf from Manhattan is a logistics problem first and a golf problem second. The host's job is a great course, an easy trip, and a 19th hole where business can actually happen.

Our take: Ferry Point is the public answer. A member hosted round at Liberty National or a Westchester classic is the private answer. Bethpage is for clients who are real golfers and will love you for it.

The public play: Ferry Point

Thirty to forty minutes by car, a clubhouse that handles lunch and drinks properly, and a course that impresses without embarrassing a 20 handicap if you pick the right tees. Budget roughly $175 to $265 a player at peak in recent listings, plus a car service if you are doing it right. For a fourball with a client you want to impress, it is the standard downtown answer.

The private play: a member hosted round

If you or a colleague holds a metro membership, the guest day is the strongest client golf product in the city. Liberty National is 25 minutes from Wall Street. Westchester and Long Island classics add the pedigree. Guest fees at top tier clubs commonly run $200 to $400 plus caddie as reported estimates, and the host covers everything, always.

The golfer's client exception

A client who plays seriously will remember a Bethpage Black day longer than any steakhouse. It is also walking only, five hours, and no place for a deal conversation on the 14th tee. Know your client. The Black is a gift to a golfer and a punishment to a casual.

Rules of the road

Pick up the full check, including caddies and the car. Tee off before 9 so the day ends with the afternoon left. Play a format, scramble or best ball, that keeps a weaker client in the game. Never let a client pay for anything, including the turn.

Reader responses

Hosts: what is your standard client golf move from the city, and what does the day cost all in?

FAQ

Can I write off client golf?

Tax treatment of business entertainment changed years ago and golf is generally not deductible as entertainment. Talk to your accountant, not a golf blog.

What about simulator client nights?

A private bay at a Manhattan simulator venue with food and drinks is the winter and evening answer, and runs a few hundred dollars for the group. Prices in this guide were checked in October 2026 against published course listings and recent reporting. Greens fees move by season, day, and residency, so confirm the exact rate when you book. Private clubs do not publish initiation fees or dues. Every private figure here is an estimate band based on public reporting, labeled as an estimate, and the only accurate number comes from a club's membership office.
