Saturday Golf from Downtown Manhattan: Three Itineraries That Work

Our anchor point is Downtown Manhattan, the Financial District around Wall Street. Times are approximate off peak drive times or standard transit times from there. Add 15 to 30 minutes at rush hour and on summer Saturdays. A Manhattan Saturday round fails on logistics more often than on golf. These are the three itineraries our Downtown readers actually repeat, with the clock run honestly.

Our take: The early Bethpage run, the Ferry Point treat, and the Van Cortlandt local. Pick by budget, not by ambition.

Itinerary A: Bethpage, the full send

Up at 5:30, LIRR by 6:30, clubhouse by 7:45, tee time near 9 on the Red or Black, home by 4:30, dinner in the city. All in for a resident, roughly $120 to $180 including rail and food at recent prices. Book the tee time the prior Saturday night window, in this case seven days out at 7 PM for residents.

Itinerary B: Ferry Point, the civilized one

Car service or drive at 8, tee at 9, lunch at the clubhouse, home by 3 with the afternoon intact. All in, roughly $250 to $350 a player with the round at recent peak listings. The Saturday for a guest, a birthday, or a client who became a friend.

Itinerary C: Van Cortlandt, the local

Sleep in, 1 train at 9, tee at 10, home by 4 for under $90 all in. The round is hillier and slower than the other two and the day costs a third as much. Most Downtown golfers who play weekly are on some version of this itinerary.

The itinerary to retire

The spontaneous Saturday: wake up, call around, drive to Long Island at 10 into beach traffic, pay peak dynamic pricing at a daily fee course you did not choose, and tee off at 1:30. Every Manhattan golfer does it twice. Then they pick A, B, or C.

FAQ

Which itinerary suits a first time guest from out of town?

B, Ferry Point, for the skyline and the conditioning, with A as the pick for a serious golfer guest.

How early is too early to book?

Bethpage's resident window is the constraint. Everything else in these itineraries books a few days out in season. Prices in this guide were checked in October 2026 against published course listings and recent reporting. Greens fees move by season, day, and residency, so confirm the exact rate when you book. Private clubs do not publish initiation fees or dues. Every private figure here is an estimate band based on public reporting, labeled as an estimate, and the only accurate number comes from a club's membership office.
