Nine majors. Tulsa, Oklahoma, has hosted nine major championships at one club, and the most recent, the 2022 PGA, reminded the rest of the country what it keeps forgetting: this oil town built one of the great championship courses in America and it still works. Across town sits a Tillinghast. Out in Owasso, a modern private club. And the city runs three public facilities, because Tulsa's golf was built by people who thought the game belonged to the town as well as the club. Of all the Oklahoma lists in this series, this is the deepest.

We score the golf first, then the day, then access. Southern Hills wins the golf so completely that the real list starts at No. 2.

## 1Southern Hills Country Club

Nine majors, including the 2022 PGA. Courses accumulate that kind of record by surviving every era the game throws at them, the wooden shaft era's aftermath, the steel era, the titanium era, the era of the 340-yard drive. Southern Hills kept asking the championship question and kept getting the championship invitation, which is the strongest evidence a course can present. Its major as recently as 2022 also answers the lazy charge that classic courses are obsolete. The best players in the world came to Tulsa and the course held.

The concession: Southern Hills is a members' club that hosts majors, not a museum you can book, and its difficulty is calibrated for a field of professionals a few weeks a decade. None of that moves it. The best course in Tulsa is one of the best in America, and the gap to No. 2 is the widest on any Oklahoma page we have published.

## 2Tulsa Country Club

Across town, Tulsa Country Club is a Tillinghast, which means Tulsa holds work by two of the defining names in American design in one city. Tillinghast courses play with a different accent than the championship bruiser across town: strategy worn lightly, greens that reward position over power, a members' test that stays interesting across decades of weekly play. Tulsa CC has been exactly that for its members while Southern Hills collected majors in public.

It finishes second because second is where a superb members' course lands when the neighbor has nine majors. The members know. Many of them would privately tell you whose golf they enjoy more across a full season, and their answer is why this club holds its own at No. 2 rather than fading into the famous one's shadow.

## 3The Patriot Golf Club (Owasso)

The Patriot, up in Owasso, is the modern entry: a private club of the new school, built as a destination for the Tulsa area's newer golf money, with a patriotic identity it wears openly. It gives the region a third private option with a contemporary feel, and for golfers who find the old clubs' atmosphere heavy, that freshness is the appeal.

Third is honest. The Patriot is competing against a nine-major venue and a Tillinghast, and newness is not an argument against either. What it has is room to grow into its own history. Check back in thirty years.

## 4LaFortune Park Golf Course

Tulsa runs three public facilities, and LaFortune Park leads them on this list as the city's everyday workhorse, the course where Tulsa actually plays: affordable, busy, woven into the park system of a city that has always treated public golf as a civic good. Fourth place behind three private clubs understates its importance to Tulsa golf, but this ranking scores the golf first, and the private top three earn their places.

## 5Page Belcher Golf Course

Page Belcher is the city's west-side public golf, a full facility that gives Tulsa a second municipal address and keeps rounds cheap for the half of the city LaFortune does not serve. Its fifth place reflects the depth above it. As a piece of public infrastructure it is exactly what a golf city should have, and Tulsa has it twice over.

## 6Mohawk Park Golf Course

Mohawk Park rounds out the city's public system, the third facility, up by the parkland on the north side. Sixth on a list with nine majors at the top is no disgrace; it is what a healthy golf town looks like when you count all the way down, from a PGA Championship venue to a muni where anyone in Tulsa can get a game.

That full count is Tulsa's distinction: not just the club with nine majors, but a city that built golf for everyone underneath it, and kept building.
